We headed to the central markets for a spot of shopping this morning. It was great fun. There were loads of fakes and Lisa had her eye on all the handbags. You had to spend time loking at each bag carefully to see how well they were made and if the finishing touches gave them away as fakes. She found a perfect one and then started on haggling her way with the price. They wanted 35dollars but in the end she managed to get them down to 21dollars (around 14pounds or 28AUD). We also bought a few other bits and bobs too!
In the afternoon we headed for the killing fields. This is where people were taken under the Pol Pott regime to be killed and burried in mass graves. There were loads of craters in the ground where they had dug up bodies and even today, more than 30 years later, bones and teeth come up when it rains. They have exhumed a lot of the bodies and made a concrete pagoda to house all the remains they found. It was very sad to see rows and rows of skulls and clothes the people were wearing when they arrived there.
