Diary Entry: 02/04/10

Today we headed out on an organised tour of Cham island. The boat took an hour and a half to get there and then we wandered around exploring for the morning. It was a very small island which was originally used to store prisoners!! Then came people who wanted to find and steal the bird’s nests from the island because they were an expensive delicacy made out of bird’s bile (aparently the birds eat spiders which have eaten coral and seaweed which tastes yum). Anyway, we just went for a tour and were shown LOTS of wells, yup, just wells – nothing particularly fancy about them!! One of the other girls in our group slipped on the path near a rice paddie and had to put her foot in the water to steady herself. Sadly her flip flop didn’t emerge with her foot and so there was nothing else for it but to rummage through the muddy water with her hands – nice!!

We then went snorkling. Tim had done it before but it was Lisa’s first time and took some getting used too. We saw brightly coloured fish (not many but a few) and some coral which we think had seen better days. It was still fun though and we got to jump off the boat into the water which was cool.

After lunch we settled down on a beautiful private beach for more sunburning!!
